Garpen

Garpen is an old stone cabin next to the river, originally built as a hydro-power station and later served the purpose as the first biology field station at Finse from 1965 to 1972. It has now been renovated and is available for recreational use for university employees and students.

The cabin has electric heating, a kitchen with essential utensils and a loft that sleeps up to 10 people on floor mattresses. The cabin must be left clean and ready for the next users. The nightly charge is 70 NOK for students from the faculties of mathematics and natural sciences at UiO/UiB and 100 NOK for employees and external students (you may pay online). Check availability in the calendar below before making a booking. The cabin is reserved for users of the research station in july and first half of august. Note that it is not possible to book the cabin more than 6 monhs in advance.
