Garpen is an old stone cabin next to the river, originally built as a hydro-power station and later served the purpose as the first biology field station at Finse from 1965 to 1972. It has now been renovated and is available for recreational use for employees and students at  the faculties of mathematics and natural sciences at UiO/UiB.

The cabin has electric heating, a kitchen with essential utensils and a loft that sleeps up to 10 people on floor mattresses. The cabin must be left clean and ready for the next users.

The nightly charge is 400 NOK for rent of the entire cabin. You may pay online. Check availability in the calendar below before making a booking. The cabin may be reserved for users of the research station in July and first half of August. Note that it is not possible to book the cabin more than 6 months in advance.

To book the cabin, or if you have any questions, please contact the center manager, Erika Leslie.
